 FAQs

  • Dietitians are experts in nutrition, and its application to people and medical conditions. They understand how to use nutrition to treat and manage diseases and illnesses. A common misconception is that they just help people to lose weight and eat healthier and while this is partly true, they do so much more. Dietitians often work in hospitals on the wards or in clinics to help treat patients alongside the medical team. They have a thorough understanding of not only nutrition, but also medical conditions and their treatments, medications, biochemistry, and the psychology needed to improve your health.

  • ‘Registered Dietitian’ is the only nutrition title protected by law which means you can only call yourself one after completing the years of training. The title ‘nutritionist’ is not protected so anyone can call themselves one. Dietitians are also the only nutrition professionals that work in healthcare settings i.e. hospitals alongside doctors and consultants to give specific dietary advice according to their medical status. It is rare to see any other nutrition profession working in a hospital. This means dietitians are not only experts in nutrition, but they have extensive clinical experience to match. This is not always the case with e.g. nutritionists, nutritional therapists, online coaches, personal trainers etc.

  • After expressing your interest in working with Yusuf, a free consultation will be arranged to learn more about your goals, what you are looking for and if you’d like to go ahead. If so, you’ll have the option to choose an appointment package or just start with one at a time. Appointments are virtual via a video call. All data is stored confidentially and you are sent a summary including a clear diet plan as well as resources e.g. recipes, leaflets, supplement recommendations. Yusuf can also send correspondence to other healthcare professionals e.g. GP’s if needed. You can book follow ups however regularly suits you.

  • The first appointment is always a thorough assessment of all the factors affecting your diet and goals. If relevant, we’ll go through your medications, blood markers, medical history, exercise routine, and of course your diet. Some leave with a specific prescribed plan to work on their goals immediately while for others, it’s a gentle supportive approach with guidance throughout their journey. Either way, you’ll leave your appointment with a clear path to success.

Follow up appointments are often shorter to review your progress and make adjustments to the plan to make sure your progress continues.
